World Cup of Cards coming to the Playground

$1.9m GTD PartyPoker LIVE World Cup of Cards is coming to the Playground Poker Club in Montreal Jan 20-Feb 6.

PartyPoker will return to its new favorite haunt, the Playground Poker Club in Montreal, next month. This time, the popular online poker operator is organizing a two-week festival that will see $1,926,000 in guaranteed prize pools paid out across 29 scheduled events.

I’m talking, of course, about the PartyPoker LIVE World Cup of Cards. Set to kick off on Sunday, January 20, 2019, the poker festival will continue through Wednesday, February 6. The three largest events on the roster—Grand Prix Canada, WPTDeepStacks, and the CPPT event—are conveniently spread out across the 18-day schedule, and feature guarantees worth $1.5 million combined.

PartyPoker LIVE at Playground Poker Club

Since teaming up with the World Poker Tour (WPT) earlier this year, PartyPoker has spent a great deal of time and resources organizing special events on the Playground. Anything involving a WPTDeepStacks is always a fan favorite, and next month’s World Cup of Cards should be no different.

$1,650 WPTDeepStacks $750k GTD

The WPTDeepStacks event boasts the largest buy-in, and largest guarantee, of the poker festival. Day 1A begins February 1. The standard entry fee will be $1,650, with a prize of $750k promised to be spread across the highest place finishers. Up until then, players can compete in moderately less expensive, $180 satellites with 3-10 seats guaranteed per tournament.

$220 Grand Prix Canada $500k GTD

The Grand Prix Canada, with its $500k GTD, is sure to attract a lofty field as well. It’s buy-in of $220 begins on January 20 with 72 hours of online Day 1A-C qualifiers. Because what fun would a PartyPoker LIVE event be without some online poker action in the mix? Afterwards, players can partake in a series of Grand Prix Canada Day 1 qualifiers at the Playground, with a winner to be determined on Monday, January 28.

$1,100 CPPT $250k GTD

Last but not least among the big money events is the $1,100 Card Player Poker Tour (CPPT) $250k GTD, kicking off on February 4 and wrapping up the following day.

In between all of these lucrative tournaments, players can partake in a plethora of smaller events, including NLHE Tag Teams, DeepStack turbos, 8-Max games, Bounties, Mega Stacks, and the mysteriously titled, Strangers in the Night, a $175 NLHE event with $65k GTD.

Buy-In to World Cup of Cards with PP LIVE Dollars

Members of the PartyPoker online poker room can win PP LIVE Dollars—a new form of currency from PartyPoker—which can be exchanged for buy-ins to live events like this one. The same dollars can be used to enter Online Day 1 events. They can even be used to cover travel expenses and cost of accommodations when attending PartyPoker LIVE events.
