Pennsylvania Online Sportsbooks: Best Bets for Keystoners
Analytical comparison of nine PA online sports betting sites.
As our previous synopsis of all PA-licensed iGaming websites revealed, every worthy operator in the Keystone State has chosen to offer online casino games. On the opposite end of the spectrum, just one currently presents online poker in PA (with more expected in the very near future). That means internet sportspooks get the label of PA’s “middle-man”. Most operators offer sports betting, but not all – 9 of the 12 to date. The following text is meant to give you an idea of what Pennsylvania online sportsbooks have to offer.
Diversity of PA Online Sports Betting Sites |
||
At present, there are ten Pennsylvania online sportsbooks vying for your membership. Of course, you aren’t limited to just one. Experienced sports bettors commonly join multiple sportsbooks for the purpose of comparing lines, thus ensuring they get the best odds on all their wagers. Let’s kick things off by taking a quick look at all the online sportsbooks licensed in PA. |
What PA Sportsbooks Bring to the Table |
Of the ten operators listed above, most of them can be grouped into categories of similar qualities. For example, BetRivers and SugarHouse are sister-sites offering a virtual mirror-image of iGaming products. They present the same casino and sports offerings, installed on the same software platforms. Another example is DraftKings and FanDuel. They are rival companies, yet they each represent a similar product. That said, we’ll take a comparative look at the state’s analogous sportsbooks. |
BetRivers & SugarHouse Sportsbooks |
|||
Rush Street Gaming has launched dual iGaming sites under two distinct titles. The SugarHouse Casino in Philadelphia is famously recognized throughout the state, but was rebranded Rivers Casino in 2019 to match Rush Street’s other property, Rivers Casino Pittsburgh. With two famous names under their mighty wing, why choose one when they could just as easily launch both? So they did. I’ve chosen to start with these two sportsbooks because they offer one of the state’s largest variety of sporting events to wager on, the widest selection of odds per game (winners, spreads, totals, moneylines, run lines, props, parlays, teasers, etc.), plus, they offer live stream sporting events – especially the international ones – directly on the website. To date, no other internet sportsbooks in PA offer live streams.

DraftKings & FanDuel |
|||
Most PA sporting fans will recognize these brands as the two major daily fantasy sports (DFS) providers of the last decade. Without legal sports betting on the table, DraftKings and FanDuel made DFS a household name. Now, the two rivals are bringing traditional sports, and DFS of course, to PA punters. The first thing you need to know about these sites is that they are not entirely accessible via web browser. The sportsbook side can be accessed directly from desktop or mobile, but if you want to play any of their casino games on the side, you’ll need to download the app for iOS or Android. If you can’t or don’t want to download an app, you can still bet on sports, but nothing else. I only point this out so strongly because I find it as odd as it is unnecessarily restrictive. The variety of sporting events aren’t exactly the same between these two sites. DraftKings has a slightly larger variety with 20 types of sports on its menu, while FanDuel offers just 17 [sports marked with an asterisk (*) are available at DraftKings only]. Another thing that really stands out in DraftKings favor is its provision of eSports betting. The eSportsbook is limited at the moment to professional League of Legends tournaments only, but I’m hopeful the menu will expand over time.
* available at DraftKings, but not FanDuel.

FoxBet PA Sportsbook |
|||
FoxBet is a name any true sports fan should recognize. It’s headline celebrities are the same folks that host Fox Sports – Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, Skip Bayless, Charissa Thompson, and the rest of the crew. That, and a full collection of sports categories to bet on, is pretty much the only thing that sets FoxBet apart from the “rest of the market” (listed below).

Caesars Casino Virtual Sports Betting |
||||||
Caesars Casino has the smallest online sportsbook in PA, but there’s something else they have to offer that no other competitor does – at least not yet – and that’s Virtual Sports Betting. BetRivers seems poised to introduce a virtual sportsbook in the future (based on the simple fact that it’s listed in the casino’s game types drop-down menu), but has yet to do so. Virtual sports betting is a unique form of wagering in which the bettor chooses a sport, then selects certain parameters dependent on that sport, such as teams or players. A real, historical event is randomly selected, with actual odds from that historic event displayed. The bettors is given no indication of when the actual contest took place. They simply review the odds, place their wagers, and then watch highlights from the actual event, leading up to the finish. Most virtual sports are more basic, depicting random, digital matches that look similar to a video game. The odds and outcomes are random, utilizing RNG-based computer generated results rather than historic events.

Four other PA online sports betting sites remain. They don’t really offer anything exceptional worth noting, so I’ve listed them each below, along with their available sporting events, in order from greatest to least. Parx Casino Sportsbook
Unibet Sportsbook
Mt Airy’s FoxBet Sportsbook
Presque Isle’s BetAmerica Sportsbook
That wraps up our PA online sportsbook section. If you’re interested in other interactive wagering options, be sure to have a look at our PA online casinos and PA online poker pages. |
