BetFred is one of the oldest name in European sports betting, bringing unparalleled experience and a proven betting platform to the market. What they didn’t bring was a whole lot of variety. Brand partner, Saratoga, put forth most of its time and effort into the land-based sportsbook, constructing a luxurious lounge with wall-to-wall LED screens for visitors to the property. The online and mobile sportsbook, on the other hand, delivers bets only on a dozen of the most popular, Americanized sports.  

BetMGM Sportsbook is an online and mobile betting operator with respected backing from the land-based side (MGM Resorts), as well as the digital side (GVC Holdings). Coloradans have access to one of the largest selections of sporting events to wager on, including eSports. The website and mobile interface aren’t anything to write home about, but they work well.

Wildwood Casino of Cripple Creek was a bit later to the game than most, launching its land-based and mobile sportsbook in mid July of 2019. BetWildwood is available in-browser for desktop users, and as an Android or iOS app, but its general reception has been ‘just another sportsbook option’ in Colorado. They don’t really bring anything special to the table, and in fact – at time of writing – seem to be having technical difficulties with the website.

Circa Sports is what you might call a mini-sportsbook. It’s ideal for the casual gamer who sticks to easy bets on America’s most popular sports, but far less appealing for educated gamblers. At this time, the operation seems incomplete, at best. Logging in from a PC, the website states “your OS is not supported”, recommending you download the Android or iOS app to place bets. Yet, when logged in, you can indeed place bets. Full-page animations promise “more payment options”, “bigger menu”, and “mile high limits” soon to come, but for now, Circa is nowhere near a top-tier contender in the Colorado sports betting market. 

Most Americans are familiar with the DraftKings name, having been a legal DFS option for years prior to 2015. Now, the brand is back in Colorado, delivering a complete sports betting experience that includes traditional sports, fantasy sports,  electronic sports, plus an online racebook. However, sports and DFS accounts are maintained separately, meaning users must deposit individually for each. The one area where this operator really fails, in our opinion, is the lack of information for non-registered users. You cannot view some of the most basic details, like payment options, without signing up and logging.

FanDuel is practically a mirror-image of its long-time rival, DraftKings, as far as betting opportunities go. They offer almost the exact same sports (DK wins that war by a hair), and they both provide online racebooks. However, between the two, FanDuel gets our vote for being more forthcoming with basic information. In fact, just about every question you might have is answered in their comprehensive and categorical Help FAQ. If you’re looking for sports, racing and DFS all rolled into one, this is a good choice. If you’re just looking for a great sportsbook, there are better options.

FoxBet is the official sports betting app of FOX Sports. Every major sport covered on the network can be wagered on in the mobile app, with expert commentary from the same sportscasters fans watch every day. Their media coverage, combined with the iGaming experience of PokerStars-parent, The Stars Group, makes for an interesting choice. However, due to the overwhelming reliance on celebrities, it feels like the sportsbook is geared more towards turning sports fans into recreational gamblers than catering to educated bettors.

Elite Casino Resorts teamed with Black Hawk’s Red Dolly Casino to get a sportsbook product to market, and that’s what they did. For now, that’s about all they’ve done. The product is very limited, offering only the most popular sporting events, but nothing outside the box. There’s no indication they intend to expand the platform, either. On the plus side, the website and apps are both very clean and simple to navigate.

The Monarch Casino in Black Hawk chose to launch a mobile sports betting app, but no website. That means you won’t be able to find out anything about their online sportsbook operation without downloading the app first. Or, you can read reviews like this one, where you’ll learn their most exceptional feature is going beyond the most popular sports verticals to offer wagers on about 20 different types of athletic events. That’s no where near the largest sportsbook in CO, putting this operator somewhere near the bottom of the list in terms of interesting features.

Play Maverick Sports is the online/mobile betting branch of Maverick Gaming, operator of three land-based casinos in Colorado. Officially, the digital brand is aligned with Maverick’s largest gambling hall, Grand Z Casino. It is powered by the world-famous gaming software giant, International Game Technology, running on the IGT PlaySports platform. Despite its famous lineage, the sportsbook offers a rather modest line-up of the most popular sports to wager on.

Based in Sydney, Australia, PlayUp Interactive is a deep-rooted betting brand with previous operations in Australia, New Zealand, and India. After acquiring a number of existing sportsbook platforms, including DFS operator DraftStars, PlayUp began its expansion into US markets, starting with Colorado. Bettors can access the platform via web browser, online and on mobile, or by downloading the Android or iOS app for smartphones and tablets. A wide range of betting options includes lines on everything from football and basketball, to Alpine skiing and biathlon events. 

Originating in Australia, PointsBet is a sports wagering platform that introduces Coloradans to a unique concept known as “points betting”. It’s not for the inexperienced bettors, nor the light of wallet. Points betting is more appropriate for those who appreciate the appeal of high-risk / high-reward. Due to the nature of points betting, only a few of the most popular sports are available for betting. Suffice it to say, if you’re not familiar with the concept, PointsBet isn’t the sportsbook for you. 

SBK is another Colorado sports betting operator that chose to go the mobile-only route. Their website is only there to give basic information about the product (more than we can say for Monarch), and direct potential members to the correct links for Android and iOS app downloads. Their self-professed image of being “the home of the best-odds sports betting in Colorado” is a far-stretch. They only offer an average number of sports lines, with fewer bet types than most competitors. The only real perk has to be the option to place non-sporting  props and futures on things like current affairs, entertainment and politics.

Carousel Group is one of the younger companies to join the iGaming industry, established in 2017, yet it’s fame is universal, thanks largely to the costly acquisition of the most coveted domain name in the business – sportsbetting.com. The website and mobile app offer a decent range of sporting events to wager on, with a few extras in the mix, like reality TV and politics. They are also one of the few Coloardo iGaming websites to offer both a sportsbook and racebook product.

Once of the state’s smallest online sportsbook offerings, SuperBook is all about catering to the average American sports fan. Only the biggest sports are available, but the real issues lies within the payments department. Players can only fund their account by creating a SuperBook Play+ account, and the websites states that withdrawals will be processed “within five (5) business days”. That’s a far cry slower than 24-48 hour standard followed by the rest of the online gambling world.

This CO sportsbook is backed by one of the country’s most recognized (and heavily marketed) sports news and score tracking apps. The moment sports betting was legalized, theScore capitalized, as was their intention all along. Surprisingly, they only scratched the surface of the market’s potential, providing a very limited range of sports. They also chose not to launch a betting website. You can only access to theScore Bet in Colorado by downloading the Android or iOS app on your smartphone or tablet.

One of the biggest names in the global sports betting industry, William Hill teamed up with Isle Casino Hotel Black Hawk to provide land-based and online sports betting services to the state. What we did find surprising is that, despite their immaculate reputation overseas, they offer a succinct line-up of sports that only spans fan favorites. Otherwise, it’s a good choice, proffering a user-friendly app with a wide variety of bet types.

WynnBET launched its mobile sportsbook app in Colorado early 2021. The brand is backed by Las Vegas casino conglomerate Wynn Resorts International. The digital sports betting wing is powered by Wynn Sports Interactive (WSI), and is licensed in partnership with Bronco Billy’s Casino.
