Know When to Switch Blackjack Tables

You Know it’s Time to Change Blackjack Tables when This HappensIf you’re like every other avid blackjack player, you have a handful of bad experiences to share. Bad things happen. It could be a terrible losing streak, or a rude dealer. Perhaps the player next to you was the world’s most belligerent gambler. Maybe you’re just having a really hard time staying focused on the game. Whatever the case, there are certain triggers that could, and should, bring you to switch blackjack tables.

You know it’s time to change blackjack tables when…

If any of the following circumstances arise, you should get up, take your chips, and find a new table.

…your bankroll is bleeding out.

Winning and losing streaks happen. It’s a natural part of the game. But some streaks go beyond the norm, and can do detriment damage to your bankroll. If you’re losing one hand after another and your bankroll just keeps dwindling, don’t assume that things are going to turn around. Take it as a sign that it’s time to get up and go.

…the dealer keeps messing up.

Blackjack dealers are human. They make mistakes, just like the rest of us. But a blackjack dealer is professionally trained to do the job right. We expect them to stay focused and make far fewer mistakes than the average Joe. A misdeal here – a chip error there – okay. But if the dealer is making more mistakes than should be forgiven, something is wrong. It’s time to move.

…the stakes are too rich for your blood.

In order to get both strategic profitability and entertainment value out of your game, you have to play stakes that suit your bankroll. You should have enough cash to bet at least 50 hands, with no regard to returns. Simply put, if you have $500 to play with, don’t bet over $10 per hand. If the table limits start at $25, it’s not the table for you.

…your neighbors are terrible.

The players around you at the table can make or break your game. If someone is being too liberal or conservative with their hits, it can impact what cards you receive. Pro strategists hate this behavior. Or, maybe it’s not terrible play, but rather a terrible attitude that’s getting on your nerves. Drunk, belligerent, obnoxious, antagonistic, even a revolting odor is a good reason to leave a table behind.

…you aren’t focused on the game.

There are a lot of reasons why you might be distracted from the game at hand. If you’re worried about something in your day to day life, this may not be the right time to be gambling anyway. It could be you need to eat or get some rest. Maybe the hot guy/gal across the way has grabbed your attention.

Whatever it is that’s breaking your focus, it should be enough to make you stop think whether you should move tables, or leave the casino altogether. If the distraction is something that could easily be avoided, such as another person or activity taking place in the vicinity, you can easily change blackjack tables to solve the problem.

There’s one thing all of the above game-changers have in common, and that’s the ability to ruin a good time. If any of these situations are occurring, it’s clearly impacting your entertainment value. If you’re not having fun, what’s the point?
