While making my Monday rounds across the Canadian iGaming landscape, I found a total of eight new online slots at PlayOLG this week. Among them were three especially interesting titles:

Fishin’ Frenzy and its multitude of like-named sequels are original creations of Reel Time Gaming. Through individual contracts, White Hat Studios was able to develop extensions of each of these original works.

Fishin’ Frenzy Jackpot Royale Online Slot

This digital angler’s delight is a real classic, bearing a 5×3 reel set with just 10 pay lines. It’s got a min/max bet range of $0.10 to $50.00, and an assortment of features to help deliver big payouts. The only thing it’s lacking is a good RTP. This game pays back just 93.32%. That’s not terrible for a progressive, but you can do a lot better, as you’ll see in the final game description below.

As for features, the Jackpot Royale edition of Fishin’ Frenzy comes with wilds, free games and, of course, the three-tier progressive. Wilds help line up winning combinations, substituting for all but scatters and bonus symbols. 3+ bonus symbols trigger free games, wherein Fisherman Scatters can appear, delivering scatter pays.

It has the lowest RTP of the three, coming in at just 93.06%, but makes up for it with the absolute highest number of features.

One-Eyed Willy’s Riches is a bonus that can trigger at random after any spin. When it does, the player will enter one of six features; Truffle Shuffle Wilds, Mikey’s Hidden Riches, Data’s Colossal Symbols, Mouth’s Lucky Coins, One-Eyed Willy’s Bonus Boost, and Sloth’s Wild Spin. Two additional modifiers can randomly trigger on any losing spin, turning it into a win. One is a scythe that sweeps across the reels and resets the reels to trigger a win. The other is a cave collapse in which new symbols fall into place, guaranteeing a payout. And that’s just the half of it.

The Goonies Jackpot Royale also features the Fratelli Hideout Bonus, Skeleton Organ Bonus, Super Sloth Free Spins, Goonies Go Wild Free Spins, Inferno Free Spins, and a One-Eyed Willy’s Treasure Bonus. This Mighty slot game takes place across 6 reels that can spin out up to 7 symbols each. Players can wager a min/max of $0.10/$10. The average RTP is the highest in the bunch, paying out at 95.46%. That’s quite high for a progressive slot machine, even by online casino standards.

There’s more to look forward to than jackpot potential. The Might Griffin Jackpot Royale Slots packs a feature-filled punch with wilds, scatters, mystery symbols, cascading wins, and the ever-fruitful Megaways mechanic.

Cascading wins impact all winning combinations, exploding all symbols that appear in the win and dropping new ones into place. When additional wins appear, the cascades continue without limit, until no winning combination lands.

All mystery symbols that appear in a spin will transform into the same symbol, potentially lining up new wins. Scatter symbols award scatter pays, and also trigger free spins when three or more appear. During free games, a win multiplier increases by 1x for each consecutive cascading win. There’s no limit on the height of the multiplier or number of consecutive wins that can fall. When 3 or 4 Free Spins symbols cascade down, they award 5 or 10 extra free games, respectively.

According to White Hat Studios’ Games Roadmap, its Jackpot Royale Slots line launched with 10 titles, promising at least 1 new Jackpot Royale game every month thereafter. My research indicates at least 12 titles in the series, so far. This leads me to the logical assumption that Ontario iCasinos are testing out the new progressive jackpot mechanic. If players respond well, I’ve no doubt more games from the menu will appear on PlayOLG before long.
