How to Win Mississippi Stud More Often

Gritty Gambler’s Mississippi Stud Poker Strategy for Optimal Results.

Last we met, we were discussing a relatively new live and online casino game known as Mississippi Stud Poker. First introduced in 2009 by Shuffle Master, it’s a game you’ll find at casinos far and wide. However, it is a game that tends to attract card players with a passion for high payout potential.

Assuming you read our previous guide, Gritty Gambler’s Pros + Cons of Mississippi Stud Poker – in all likelihood you clicked your way to this page after reading that one – you should already have a complete understanding of how to play the game, and its requirements for striking a pay out. Otherwise, please take a moment to review that page, then return here for our comprehensive…

Mississippi Stud Poker Strategy for Optimal Results

As you know, this game requires players to start with an Ante bet. They must then continue betting anywhere from 1x to 3x the Ante two more times before it’s over. This means that, in order to see a complete hand, you’re going to have to risk no less than 3 betting units. Sounds scary, I know. But let’s also note that once you have a winning hand, every wager made thereafter is just gravy in your pocket. (Metaphorically of course, that would just be gross!) And if things get too scary, you can always Fold. You’ll lose all your current bets, but conserve the rest of your bankroll for future (and hopefully more profitable) hands.

The good news here is that you won’t have to put too much mental strain into your decision making. I’ve provided a complete chart that tells you how to react (bet or fold) in every possible situation; street by street. For reference:
