At a glance, Luxor Slot appears pretty standard. It has the usual 5×3 reels, with 243 ways to win. Its high-paying symbols include famous rulers of Egypt, such as Tutankhamun, Cleopatra and Anubis. Lower paying symbols are playing card values. Nothing unusual there. However, upon closer inspection, there’s a lot more under the hood by way of features.
Luxor is equipped with a unique Expanding Reels feature. Every time a Scarab Wild appears on reel 2, 3, or 4, the reel expands upward, creating an additional position. Upon expansion, a free Re-Spin takes places on the new reel layout. If another wild appears, another expansion ensues, and another Re-Spin. This feature has the potential to expand the reels up to 3-6-6-6-3, thus expanding the ways to win up to 1,944 ways.
Tutankhamun Masks are the scatter symbols. When a trio of them appear on reels 2, 3 and 4, it triggers the Pharaoh’s Tomb Bonus game. A total of 19 urns appear on the screen. Players will continue selecting urns, one at a time, until they uncover 3 matching rewards.
The bonus game can award the Major Jackpot (100x triggering bet), the Grand Jackpot (2,000x triggering bet), or 10 free spins with 243, 576, 1125 or 1994 ways to win. Revealing a 5+ Free Spins symbol takes the place of any other Free Spins symbol, and adds an additional 5 free spins to the number won.
During free games, wild scarabs can appear stacked up to 4-high, but the reels will not expand beyond their starting size. Free spins can trigger again during the free games if 3 Pharaoh Mask scatters appear. If so, the same amount of triggering free spins are awarded again. Re-triggers can occur up to a maximum of 9 times, for at most 150 free spins.
Luxor Slot – The Verdict
The new Luxor Online Slot does feature some innovative details that players might appreciate. The expanding reels do provide an extra element of entertainment. Since it’s an all-ways paying game, there’s no confusion as to where the lines are going when the reels grow.
As for payout worthiness, Pariplay’s new Ancient Egyptian slot machine comes with a 95.95% RTP. That’s a little bit lower than the average 96.3% RTP most of today’s new online slots come with. Not really enough to make a noticeable difference in game play, though.
